Poultry and Appliances
I stopped by the grocery store on the way home from work to pick up a couple of things. Boneless-skinless chicken breasts were on sale so I decided to buy a pack of them and make some chicken stir-fry for dinner since John will be late. While the stir-fry was cooking, I started to pack up the rest of the uncooked chicken. But instead of packing it up in twos or fours as I normally would, I got out my Foodsaver and sealed each piece individually, then tossed them all into a gallon-size Ziploc bag to keep them together. About two minutes of extra work, but this way I can take out exactly what I need next time.
Once I was done with the Foodsaver, which I had fetched from the pantry, I stowed it in its new home*. I opened the bread box and saw the vacuum tube for the Foodsaver and then noticed that its jar attachment was on my dish drain board. Such a shame that those two things don’t really have a home; but I really do need to keep them together. *light bulb moment* I put them into a quart-size Ziploc bag and tacked it to the inside of the cabinet door where the appliance is now. DUH! Why didn’t I think of that before?!
*I’ve been re-organizing my kitchen, trying to store everything close to where I’ll be using it. Dishes above the dishwasher, etc. My appliances now live under the island. I didn’t move them all at once, but am putting them down there as I use them; that way I can figure out what I’m really using and toss what I’m not.
