Bread, Milk and Toiletpaper Alert!
So, the local weather-critters have been talking up this snow that we’re supposed to get tonight through tomorrow morning. They’re making it out to be rather doom and gloom-ish. The NWS put out a Winter Storm Watch for tomorrow three days ago. I stopped by the grocery store to pick up some fruit yesterday afternoon and ran into the “Bread, Milk and Toiletpaper” brigade — the place was packed. Can someone explain to me why every resident of the communist state of Maryland has to run out for BMT at the very possibility that a single flake could fall from the sky? If your food and supply stocks are so low that being barricaded in your home for two days could run you out of food and TP then you’ve got issues. Personally, I’d like to get snowed in for a couple of days. Nice roaring fire, popcorn, movies — could be quite nice.
So, here’s the current forecast and radar. Think we’ll get anything significant?
Tonight: Snow likely, mainly after 1am. Cloudy, with a low around 23. Northeast wind between 3 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. Total nighttime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.
Tuesday: Periods of snow and sleet. High near 26. East wind between 11 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of around an inch possible.
Tuesday Night: Periods of freezing rain. Low around 20. East wind between 14 and 17 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of around a 0.1 of an inch possible.
Wednesday: A chance of snow and sleet. Cloudy, with a high near 28. Blustery, with a north wind between 17 and 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Right. Probably a non-event.

HA…Roy calls it “The People’s Republic of Maryland”…lol…..
I HAVE to go to work tomorrow, even if it IS a horrid day…unless they close….but I’ve been told that my company in the last 20 years has only closed THREE times…so I’ll leave for work early, and hope for the best…I think I might actually go 95 in the event of ice so I don’t have to do that icky Rte 40 hill!!!
Enjoy your snowed in time. Roy’s already taken the day off!!!
Of course, now that I’ve opened my mouth they’ve upgraded it to a Winter Storm Warning with alleged “significant accumulations of ice”. I’ve been watching the radar over at Intellicast and I still don’t quite see it. There’s a pretty clear division between the freezing temps out here in Fredneck County and the warmer temps to the south of me.
The NWS seems to be calling for about a total of 1 – 2 inches of ice and snow, while some other websites (*cough* Weather.com */cough*) are saying 3 – 5 or more. Yeesh.
