Cellular Intarweb

We get no broadband internet out here. No cable, no dsl, no fios. John borrowed a Cingular wireless internet card from someone at work for us to try out. I’m sitting on the front porch right now. The card is indicating a signal strength of 2, and a speed of 3.6Mbps. But it can’t be 3.6Mbps — it doesn’t feel that much faster than our dialup. So now I’m downloading a large file to see what my effective speed is.

Hmmm…. my download speed is 26KB/s. Wicked fast compared to dialup!  Sign me up Scotty!!
