Back to Reality

I’m finally home for a while. :-) Lots of work to catch up on. :-(

I’ve been catching up on laundry today and got some grocery shopping done as well. UPS dropped off my spiffy new iPod yesterday while I was at work. When we built this computer last year, we didn’t bother to put a sound card in it, so I bought one today while I was out and about and installed it a little while ago. I also installed my iPod. *grin* Having actual sound come out of my computer instead of annoying beeping noises is a great thing. I’m loving it. The iPod is heavy — heavier than I expected.

I’ve got laundry on the line, laundry in the washing machine and some dishes in the dishwasher. My flower beds are overgrown with weeds and the lawn, despite being brown, could use a trim. Since it’s 97 degrees right now, neither of those tasks will be happening today. I did check and adjust the pool chemicals. Maybe I’ll go for a swim later.

I picked three beautiful red tomatoes (for dinner) from my garden. I have three small eggplants growing, and about 10 peppers, although none are large enough to pick yet. My basil plant is doing well but the cilantro and mint are dead. I guess they couldn’t stand the heat this week. John didn’t pay attention to the zucchini while I was gone, so I had another monster waiting for me. I didn’t bother snapping a photo, but it is about 16 - 18″ long. Looks like more zucchini bread……

I went up on the hill to see if any of the raspberries survived in the heat this past week — they didn’t, so I guess I won’t be making any jam. While I was up there, I came across bits and pieces of what used to be a skunk. All over the place. There was some fecal matter nearby, probably that of a fox. If there was any doubt about whether to let the cats out or not, that question has been answered. They’re not going outside.
