Four Down, Sixty-Three to Go

John installed the ceiling fan in the sitting room today. It went off without a hitch for once. :-) While going over the instructions for the wireless wall switch, he realized that it used an unusual battery size that we didn’t have on hand, so we were going to end up running to the hardware store. Before picking up the stuff, we had lunch at the Airport Inn and then went for a putt.

John piloted Charlie (that’s our plane) down towards Front Royal. He was going to turn around there and come back, but I thought that it would be pointless for us not to land and collect our stamps while we were there. Stamps? What stamps? The Virginia Department of Aviation is running an Ambassadors program — you pick up stamps at each of the state’s 67 airports and then turn in your passport for some nifty gifts. We got to watch a glider land just after we did, and we got to watch a tow plane (with glider) take off just before we did.

Not much else happened — we picked up the hardware we needed and picked out a table lamp for the sitting room. After dinner John asked for an Irish Coffee, which I hadn’t made in quite a while. Here’s the recipe:

Irish Coffee (one serving)

30ml Jamesons Irish Whiskey
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar
3/4 cup hot coffee
Reddiwhip

While the coffee is brewing, put your coffee mug in a pot of hot water — you want it to be nice and warm. Once the coffee is done, dry the mug and mix sugar and whiskey in it. Add the coffee and a very generous layer of Reddiwhip topping. Enjoy!
