All Your Gift Cards Are Belong To Us
A couple of days ago I wrote a rant about Maryland being the most liberal state in the union.� This morning I wake up to this:
“Establishing the Maryland Education Fund; providing that after a specified date, the balance remaining on a gift certificate shall be presumed abandoned; requiring a person that sells or issues a gift certificate in the State to remit to the Comptroller the remaining balance on gift certificates on or before a specified date each year; etc. “
The Maryland legislature has put forth a bill that would confiscate the balances of gift cards and certificates that it determines have been abandoned.� Ok, you can stop laughing now.
This is on top of Boy Wonder O’Malley’s� very bold tax plan.
Maryland:� Proud to be the most liberal state in the union!
