Ripping My Hair Out

I’m taking a Relational Database class online this semester. I’m getting the coursework done with no real issues — except for the fact that the book (Fundamentals of Database Systems 4th Edition) we’ve been told to purchase and read apparently isn’t the book (allegedly Fundamentals of Database Systems 4th Edition) that the course was developed from. Week 1 was a breeze. Week two was a little hokey but mostly acceptable. Last week (Week 3) I found that sections that we were assigned to read don’t exist in our book. The instructor finally confirmed today (via ISBN) that we have all purchased the specified book, but that gives me absolutely no comfort when I find this evening that some of the Figures required for Week 4 don’t exist in my book.

The instructor doesn’t seem very concerned about all of this, and was nice enough to extend our deadline for Project 1 by a week. But seriously — I’ve paid $700 for a class whose content doesn’t match up with the book that the university handed me. How stupid is that?! How on earth am I supposed to pass?!
