Bring on the Comfort and Joy
I finished the last of our shopping today. Everything is wrapped and under the tree. Boxes of gifts have been put into the safe hands of UPS. My Adopt-A-Platoon care package is on its way to Iraq. Our Christmas cards are in the mail. There is practically nothing left to do except sit back and enjoy what’s left of the season.
We’ve already missed all of the Christmas specials except for “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town”, which is on Sunday night at 6pm. Since we’ve got most of them on DVD, we’ll probably be doing a stop-motion animation marathon tomorrow night.
I also have “The Nativity”, which we haven’t seen yet. Not sure when we’re going to watch that, but I definitely want to — I really missed not seeing it in a movie theatre last year.
I’ve penciled in next Saturday for our Christmas light extavaganza. We’ll start the day at the B&O Railroad Museum, spend the afternoon taking in some train gardens and pop down 34th Street before dinner. After dinner, we’ll pick up a bucket of movie theatre popcorn and blow lots of gasoline checking out light displays with my XM tuned to the Christmas channel.
We allegedly have some wicked weather in store for us this weekend (snow, sleet, ice), but I’m seeing nothing on the radar. If I had known there would be an alert out, I would have run by the store today. No, I’m not one of those “Bread, Milk & Toilet Paper” people. I was actually planning on going this weekend. Looks like I’m not going after all.
