Christmas Eve in Delaware

We’re spending Christmas with John’s mom and dad, so we headed out to Delaware today in order to avoid having to do the drive tomorrow morning. So that we wouldn’t have to carry our gifts down and back, we opened them yesterday morning. For the second year in a row, we both managed to buy the exact same thing for each other….. we think entirely too much alike. :-)

We stopped to see our friends Brian and Jill on the way to Seaford– they just moved to the Eastern Share two months ago and we hadn’t seen their house yet. It’s beautiful. Once we had arrived at the hotel and checked in, I discovered evidence of a freeloader in our midst. Mouse poo on the bathroom counter. Ugh.

At 6:30, we headed out to Plaza Tatapia for dinner and found that they were closed. Applebees was closed. Friendly’s was closed. McDonalds, Wendys, Arbys and Grotto Pizza were closed. I know people want to go home early for Christmas Eve but no food available at 6:30pm? Luckily the Chinese buffet was open.

When we got back to hotel, I let the front desk know about the uninvited visitor. We really didn’t feel like switching rooms; I just wanted them to know so that they could put traps out. But the desk clerk insisted on moving us to a suite. It’s a nice room. Two TVs, a desk, fridge, microwave and jacuzzi tub.

hear the bells ringing,
angelic choirs singing,
Christ the Lord is born!

So here we are. Christmas in Delaware. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night…
