Delta Replies

Dear Ms. Spicer,

Thank you for your e-mail describing your recent experience with our SkyTeam partner, Northwest.

Our records indicate you were originally scheduled on a Northwest partner aircraft, therefore check-in would be with Northwest using the Northwest confirmation number (not to be confused with the Delta confirmation number).

Everyone keeps telling me that over and over (about Northwest). The fact is that the reservation was made through Delta, advertised itself as Delta Flight 6645 and had a Delta reservation number. Delta supplied me with no Northwest reservation number by which I could check-in with Northwest. Further, it was Delta that called me 4 times and emailed me 3 times during the day today about the flight cancellations and delays. Delta apparently booked me on the flight of another airline without asking me first or making any real effort to notify me with a confirmation number for check-in. Wow. Thanks.Plainly put, if Delta sells me a flight (code share or not), I expect Delta to provide me with the information that I need in order to check-in online.

As I type this, I notice that the status for my flight is now delayed again. No explanation for all of the delays, no “I’m really sorry.”

Their email clearly shows that you have no concern for my predicament. Not being able to check in on the one Northwest flight that I had was annoying, but it was only one single moment in this day-long frustration. Despite your protests, it is solely the fault of Delta (two flight cancellations and now a minimum of 3 delays) that I am sitting in my original departure airport over an hour after I was supposed to have arrived at my destination.

My DELTA flight (you know, the one they put me on after the Northwest flight was canceled) was delayed over 4 hours before being canceled. I am now booked on a DELTA flight that is now delayed as well.

This is why I normally fly Airtran and Southwest — they treat me like a live human being instead of an open wallet.
