The Lights Aren’t On… But We’re Home!
We had a completely insane thunderstorm pass through yesterday (60+ mph winds, hail, driving rain) and unfortunately, it took the power with it. At one point, so much hail had fallen that it looked like it had snowed. One of our neighbors lost most of his gutters several roof shingles. Another lost quite a bit of the siding from his shed. Local barns lost whole roofs. But we were blessed by making it through completely unscathed.
But anyway, it’s now 9:30pm on Sunday night and the power has been out since 3pm yestereday. Still no power. The power company first said that it would be back on by 8pm, now they’re saying 11pm. It got as cold as 49 degrees in here this morning — poor Chessie was shivering. Luckily, we do have a small generator so we are able to run the fireplace blower and the tv (can’t live without our NASCAR), but we have to be careful about how long we run it because it eats up about 1.5 gallons of gasoline per hour.
It’s cold. It’s dark. We don’t have much access to the intertubes
.
Update: Woo! Power back on after only 31 hours!
