Coffee, Thy Name is Senseo
I know, I know. A gimmicky coffee maker that requires expensive proprietary pods. But you know what? Not only does it make a great cup of coffee, it’s convenient and not all that expensive after all. The pods run around $0.20 each at Walmart and make a good 8 ounce cup. (Actually, Phillips specifies that one pod should make a 4 ounce cup, but it turns out to be way too strong, so we use one pod on the two-cup setting.) Expensive? No way! At that price, we can get almost 48 cups of coffee, for the same cost as one bag of John’s favorite Starbucks roast.
I won one of these coffee makers in an internet drawing, and we loved it so much that we didn’t pass up the opportunity to buy one for John’s office on the cheap. He can now make his coffee on-demand instead of hoping that I guess correctly as to whether he wants coffee that day or not. The pods make for very easy clean-up; just toss the pod and you’re done.
If you are a casual (no more than one to two cups a day) coffee drinker, this thing is definitely for you. We’re totally hooked!
