Surprise!
John goes to our friend Neil’s house every Tuesday night to play billiars with the guys. I went two weeks ago to wind down after finding out that day that I had passed the CISSP exam. With this weekend’s birthday cookout canceled, I wanted to a little something special for him. I’m sure you’ve read my previous post and seen the picture of the Pepperidge Farm frozen cake. What John didn’t know was that I had enlisted Neil and Pam to pull off a little surprise.
We got there around 7pm to share some pizza for dinner. Andy showed up a little later. John’s first surprise was that Pam had made angel food cake — we brought it out with candles and fruit topping. Very yummy!! (Pam swears it was just a boxed cake mix, but I’m not sure I believe her
) His next surprise was that Neil had brought him back a t-shirt and ball cap from AirVenture for his birthday. He buys a hat there every year, and this would have been the first year he didn’t go; but he’s got one anyway now.
With all of that out of the way, we headed downstairs for billiards — where John found lots of birthday balloons. We had a great time, and John loved the little suprises.
If you ever read this Neil and Pam, thanks so much for getting it all together — it really meant a lot to John that you went through the effort to make his birthday a little more special. ![]()
