Disney 2009: Wednesday

We’re headed back to Disney World for our anniversary…. again…. for the 3rd year in a row. No groans — we got a really good deal on this trip and after the last few weeks of stress that we’ve had, we seriously need it.

After seeing the forcast on Monday night, we decided that it would be best to stay at a hotel close to the airport so that we had less travel time in the morning with the ice and craziness. It was a good decision. Here’s what it looked like when we packed up the car on Tuesday morning:

We endured white kuckles and 2 hours of plane de-icing, but we finally arrived. Our room was ready early so we headed over to Acadian House to drop off some stuff before taking a boat to Downtown Disney. MouseKeeping had created a Mickey out of towels on our bed!

Our afternoon was spent at Downtown Disney where we split a sandwich at Earl of Sandwich for a late lunch and then took a peek at the new T-Rex Restaurant. It looks seriously cool inside! We’re thinking about changing our reservations for Tuesday night to eat here instead of Captain Jacks.

After a quick nap back at our room (we did get up at 4am), we had dinner at Tokyo Dining. I had tempura and John had a Bento Box (a combo of Japanese cuisine). We also ordered an appetizer of crunchy tuna roll. I’m not normally into tuna, but this roll was very good. The staff sang “Happy Birthday” in Japanese and brought my dessert with a candle in it. We both had the ginger chocolate cake. And then we saw about 6 minutes of Bob Jackson’s show before turning in for the night.
