The New Door
I wasn’t kidding when I said that this is how we’ll get the airplane out of the basement. It’ll come out in pieces, of course, and go to the airport on a trailer, but we needed something wide enough that the largest pieces would fit through. Going with a sliding glass door was a natural solution — both panels come off exposing an area 8-feet wide, and what you’re looking at below actually used to be a garage years ago, so this part of the house (the door and two windows) weren’t there to begin with anyway. So, here is the before picture:
And here’s what it looks like now:
Not quite done yet as there is some inside work left to be done (drywall sanding and finishing, painting, trim, etc), but the door is in and it looks beautiful! If anyone in the area needs a good home improvement guy, we can definitely recommend one. I’m thrilled with his work so far and his prices were reasonable.
